ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our international team and contribute to high-impact analytical projects for Swiss banking clients. The ideal candidate brings strong quantitative skills and hands-on experience applying machine learning techniques within financial services, working across risk, compliance, and business functions to turn complex data into actionable insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

  • Design and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, covering preprocessing, feature engineering, and model-ready dataset preparation
  • Extract, transform, and model banking data through advanced SQL queries on relational database environments such as Oracle and SQL Server
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across large and complex datasets through structured wrangling and aggregation techniques
  • Machine Learning & Modelling
  • Translate business and risk-related challenges into well-defined analytical problems and quantitative models
  • Build, validate, and continuously refine machine learning models addressing use cases such as credit risk assessment, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and portfolio optimisation
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with Risk Management, Compliance, and Business teams to interpret analytical outputs and support data-driven decision making
  • Communicate findings and model outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline
  • Solid proficiency in Python for data science applications, including Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and XGBoost
  • Advanced SQL skills for complex joins, aggregations, and data wrangling on large relational datasets
  • Proven experience applying machine learning in a banking or financial services context
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with Power BI for the development of interactive dashboards and data visualisations
  • Knowledge of DAX for calculated measures and reporting logic
